EMBERS AND ENTRAPMENT

The pulsating embers cast long, sinuous shadows across the dank air. A chill crept the atmosphere, amplifying the feeling of suffocating imprisonment. The clay-laden earth beneath my feet felt soft, as if consuming all sound and activity. My vision was blurred by the ash that swirled around me, {obscuringa surroundings. I fought to see through the
